Every year only the very best grapes are used for this top of the range Brunello. The production area is Castelnuovo dell' Abate, where the vineyards are located between 200, 300 and 450 metres above sea level. The soil is very poor and rocky and consists mainly of marlstone. The grapes were harvested by hand between 11 and 21 September 2012 and transported in 15 to 20 kg crates. Fermentation took place spontaneously in wooden casks. The wine was then aged for 42 months in 30 hl wine barrels made of Slovenian oak. On 7 July 2016, the wine was bottled without filtration.
