Vinification
This Brunello is grown in estate vineyards averaging 25 years old lying at elevations of 200, 300, and 400 metres, with a variety of orientations, in rocky soils that are nutrient-poor, largely of clay and limestone. The growing area is in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, overlooking the Orcia river valley, in the southeast quadrant of Montalcino. Harvesting was strictly by hand, with extremely rigorous quality selection keeping the vineyard yield very low. Fermentations were in both wood and concrete vats, with very lengthy macerations and open-air pumpovers. The wine matured in 30hl-oak ovals for 36 months and was bottled in May 2022.
